As if 2020 could not get any worse, the world lost Chadwick Boseman yesterday—at the age of 43—after a four year battle with colon cancer.
Boseman passed away on the day Major League Baseball celebrated Jackie Robinson day, as Boseman played Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get On Up, but most notably starred as T’Challa in the 2018 film Black Panther.
Born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina, Bosewick graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing. Bosewick attended the British American Drama Academy in London and New York City’s Digital Film Academy before moving to Los Angeles in 2008.
While privately battling cancer since 2016, Bosewick played prominent roles in several movies:
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966, T’Challa aka Black Panther was the first Black superhero with supernatural powers in US mainstream comic books. According to Bosewick’s family, “it was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther”.
A true warrior, who’s relentless perseverance we can all learn from, Boseman will continue to live on through his everlasting art. Rest in power.
